A Crafter’s Thoughts for the Festive Season

A Crafter’s Thoughts for the Festive Season

All the flowers have faded, leaves have fallen, and Christmas is just around the corner. The weather grows cooler each day, yet when I open my flower presser, I still find all the summer blooms resting there — their colours still so beautiful, as if they’re quietly holding onto the warmth of the past season.

This will be my second Christmas as a maker. For a crafter like me, it’s a time that feels both exciting and a little stressful — preparing enough stock, registering for markets, and spending long days outdoors in the cold wind and rain. As an introvert, the noise and festive crowds can also be quite overwhelming at times.

Even just thinking about 15 days a month in the market feels intense, especially with all the making that continues late into the night once I’m back home. Still, whenever I feel tired or anxious, I remind myself to pause and breathe.

Because this work, Work by Nature, is more than just a business. It’s my way of sharing how I see the beauty of nature, how I interpret the quiet poetry in a petal, a leaf, or a shell. When I stay calm, my hands move more gently, and that calm becomes part of each piece — the necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings that I hope bring you a little moment of stillness and joy.

So I keep telling myself: just breathe in and out, and everything will be fine. Only with a peaceful mind can I create pieces that truly reflect nature’s simple, elegant beauty.

Thank you so much for reading all the way here — this really feels like a small page from my personal journal. If you see me at a market this Christmas season, please come say hi and tell me you read this post. It will truly touch my heart. 🌿
